Releasing your anger may be easier said than done, especially if your anger is so intense that forgetting about it is virtually impossible to do. Nevertheless, no matter how you justify your anger, you have to let your anger go. For most part, teenagers are the ones most vulnerable to the damage that anger can cause since this is the stage where personalities are established and developed. Anger avoiders don't like anger, and in many cases they fear anger in themselves and others. They think they'll lose control if they get mad, or that getting angry is a bad thing. They feel that they're a good person because they don't get mad. Though it might sound self-explanatory and simple, taking a few deep breaths when you are absolutely fuming does indeed help you to retain yourself.
Actually you do not have to read piles after piles of self-help books to help you let go of your anger. When you are angry your system pumps out toxic chemical out to your system which may lead to serious health problems such as high blood pressure, heart problems and even depression. Sit quietly for a few moments, take deep breaths, and relax. Imagine a black cord connecting you to the source of your anger, and then imagine yourself holding a scissor and cutting off that cord of hate. Release yourself from that cord of hatred. Talk to your Higher Power about what you are feeling. In your belief system you can be sure that your Higher Power can fully understand and your faith can lead you to doing the right thing to ease your feelings.
It is also important that you be able to let your child know that you are not there to help eliminate anger but to help them with expressing their anger in a more constructive and less destructive way. If we have family or friends that are not saved, does that not make us angry? Yes indeed it should make us angry. If a person hurts us by words or by actions does that not make us angry and hurt? Again, to become angry is not a sin, but we need to learn how to deal with that anger. Throwing a tantrum about the way things are won't help you get any closer to what you really do want to have, be or do. Use the energy of your anger constructively by channeling it into consistent action that gets you results that matter. A more physical activity that you can do is to let out all of your anger and frustration by using your voice. You will want to take it a bit careful when you are doing this because you do not want to cause any damage to your voice or to your throat.
However, anger can have a flip side if it lingers on past the point that it serves a useful purpose. When it festers and begins to do damage to the person who harbors the anger, it no longer serves a positive function and it is in the best interest of the person feeling the anger to release it.
